A survey promoted by JD Power among more than 17,000 motorists British ended with the victory of the Mazda MX-5, proclaimed "Best Sport" with 82, 3% of the votes. The voters rewarded the spider Japanese style, quality interior and body work, mechanical reliability, performance, cost management and also for the service offered by the network after the sale. The Mazda MX-5 has relegated to a few votes more or less competing sports, including Mercedes SLK, Audi TT and Volkswagen Eos.
Mazda has also announced that the Miata was closed in 2009 winning 22% of the UK market between non-premium sports, that percentage drops to 12 considering the whole European market.
