Ford Edge 2009 Reviews and Specs . The Edge replaced a 02 Taurus that was totaled when someone hit us after they ran a red light. No one was hurt in this accident. But with that my wife's main concern was safety and the overall safety rating on the Edge is very good.We've owned the Edge for 3 months. Fuel economy has been 19 mpg local driving and 26 mpg highway. Our local driving is not all city driving. The 26 mpg came on a trip from central Ohio to NC outer banks. Under hard acceleration the motor and transmission combination really pull hard. We have also pulled our 3500 lb boat with no problem. It handles and rides like a car but has the room of a small SUV. I am 6-2; 250 lbs and the seats are very comfortable for me on long trips. I also have found that the height of the Edge is very easy for a taller person to get in and out of.I drove 7 makes and over 30 different new vehicles before buying the Edge. I am very impressed with the finish and performance of the Edge
