Good to see Toyota building an interesting car, at last... Let's face it, they never lacked the funds so what's been going on...?? Company's been run by non-car enthousiasts, or something?
My last fav Toy was the first (and only the first) MR2. This one part developed by Subaru so my hope is it handles well...

Something like that I guess, Toyota's new CEO, Akio Toyoda apologized for the Lack of Profit, Floor Mat Scare, closure of the NUMMI Plant and Boring Cars!
When the FT-86 goes into production, at least they'll have an affordable (exciting?) RWD Toyota. Can designers not design something that isn't so over the top that the concept will never be made in production. this front end is just horrible. Ok so the concept gets a go ahead, now it's going to take another year or two for fine tune the final design. Why not design a car that is a concept but also ready to hit the streets.
The sport coupe's dimensions are fairly compact with a length of 4,16 meters and a height of 1,26 m (width and wheelbase are 1,76 and 2,57 meters, respectively) and a low center of gravity. The FT-86 was created by Toyota's Europe Design Development and it's objective was to fashion a car with a "functional utility" design theme.
Uncharacteristic for the times, this concept does not feature any new technology of the hybrid or electric kind. The goal for both Japanese automakers was to create a sports model that is simple, fun-to-drive and fuel efficient. The FT-86 will feature Subaru's 2.0 liter Boxer gasoline/petrol engine, which develops only 160 hp, although, there have been hints that it may be dialed up to about 200. It also uses a 6-speed manual transmission and ADVICS brakes.
first why boxer 4. second why 160HP. third this is most likely going weight more than MX5 and Genesis, so it has lost the competition already. plus i believe it will have that a Subaru AWD system which kills all the chances of over steering and power sliding. however it looks better than MX5 and genesis.
