New Triumph 2010 Thunderbird , Well done, Triumph! I saw this bike at Bike Week this year and was impressed, as much by the fact its not a Harley clone as by the nice fit/finish. Something affordable and unique for the cruiser set.Place the sideview pic above directly next to a late 80s-early 90s Kawi Eliminator. It's a direct clone! You won't know which is which. This is a complement. I generally despise cruisers but this is about as close as I'll get to approval. The Triumph Thunderbird has been designed from the ground up to feature an innovative 1,600cc parallel twin engine, six-speed transmission and 200mm rear tire. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) is available for an additional $800 USD.At $12,499 the big parallel twin engine 2010 Thunderbird is priced in the range of comparable Japanese competitors. The Thunderbird will be easily customized to meet each rider’s own styling tastes and riding preferences with a long list of Genuine Triumph Accessories that include a long haul touring seat, windshield, passenger back rest, luggage rack and leather saddle bags. There are a lot of great bikes in their line. I have to say that this new Thunderbird is strange to me. The original was indeed a verticle twin, but this one seems to be having an identity crisis. If you want a really big lumbering twin, get a Harley or one of the Japanese V twins. If you want a smaller, lythe, verticle twin, something that says “Triumph”, get the Triumph Bonneville, Thruxton or even the America. The previous Thunderbird triple was a great bike, and “triple” and “Triumph” is a great and traditional combination. This bike seems odd to me. And that radiator on this new Thunderbird looks like someone stuck a refridgerator on the front. Dominates the view from the front. I am all for water cooled motorcycles, but the radiator on this Thunderbird is UGLY, and seriously detracts from the looks
