Some may argue that the S1000RR looks a little too much like a Japanese sportbike. Yeah, so?... BMW's sales represent less than 2-percent of the world market. The marketing team has apparently come to the conclusion that being "different" isn't always the greatest sales strategy. Ninety-eight percent of bike buyers seem to prefer the Japanese look. What's important, and can translate into a greater market share, is that the S1000RR's performance and reliability will at least equal and, we hope, surpass that of the Big Four's offerings. I'm banking on that -- which is why I'm high on the waiting list for the Beemer superbike. Personally i think the style looks good. Not sure about the MSRP though, i have heard many guesstimates but the one thing i hear consistently is that it will be competitive with the jap models, if this is the case(which it should be if they expect to be successful in selling the bike) then i would expect a price tag of 11-13k before tax. If they price it in this range or close to and the specs are right ill buy one. As far as all you people mentioning the italian bikes, those are a whole different subject, they have alot of style but lets face it, the V-twin engine is stupid slow, who wants to have to pay 40k for the ducati 1098r just to get run over by a 11k japanese bike. Right now the 2008 kawasaki ZX-10 will outrun any other stock bike, even the busa or zx-14(unless you take the govenor off them). If BMW is smart they will make the price right if they want this bike to sell.
