New Subaru Outback 2009 2010 , hmm,While I completely agree that wagons make more sense for most people than SUV's, why must people who LIKE wagons suffer the styling excesses of the Outback? the concept of Outback is really nice. i think it's make more sense to those big-ass SUV. same to Audi Allroad series. those big-ass SUV with high & command sitting position is for those people with big ego...senseless, meaningless, not environmental friendly.Looks like a Tribeca with a Forester interior. Dont really know what I think, the design will probably grow on me. The redesigned "sport utility wagon" gets more assertive looks to go along with its larger body. Sarcastic onlookers will observe that since Fords are starting to look like Subarus, Subarus would apparently rather look like Infinitis. The wheelbase is 2.8 inches longer, and the body has been widened by 2 inches as well. The Outback is four inches taller. 
Overall length is decreased somewhat, but the packaging revisions have increased interior room, especially rear-seat legroom. Burlier fender flares and skid plates up front give the new Outback an SUV-like look. It's just fitting; with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, the Outback is more capable than some SUVs.Addressing the handling, Subaru has installed a new double-wishbone suspension at the rear, and mounted the front MacPherson struts to a revised engine cradle. Vehicle Dynamics Control stability control is now standard.
On and off-road performance are enhanced by a revised range of engines. The familiar 170 horsepower 2.5 liter boxer four-cylinder features active valve lift timing and can be hooked up to Subaru's new Lineartronic CVT. A six-speed manual is also available. A larger-displacement 3.6 liter H6 engine is also on the menu, with active valve control and 256 horsepower. Although it's a bigger engine, the 3.6 is physically the same size as the 3.0 H6 it replaces. It's also able to run on regular gasoline, rather than requiring premium. Power is driven to all four wheels by a five-speed automatic transmission. A larger 18.5 gallon fuel tank improves range.
