New Infiniti QX56 2009 : Reviews and Specs

Like almost every car on the road, this car has its ups and downs. Let's get the downs over with. The Infiniti QX56 has a 5.6 liter V8 engine producing 320 horsepower. This is quite low for a large luxury SUV. Even the Mercedes-Benz GL450 has 335. Not only that, but the QX56 gets an EPA estimated 12 city, 17 highway for 2009. These numbers are worse than the Mercedes-Benz GL450's and Cadillac Escalade's MPG numbers, and are equivalent to the Lincoln Navigator's MPG numbers. We hoped that considering the low power, Infiniti could get better gas mileage with it's full-size luxury SUV. Perhaps an Infiniti QX56 Hybrid or a QX56 with better aerodynamics will do the job and satisfy those wanting an SUV of that size. But then, the 09 QX56 does have its ups too. The only other luxury SUV under $60,000 that comes standard with a navigation system w/ voice is the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, and even that is more expensive than the QX56. The QX56 is the least expensive full-size luxury SUV that comes with a standard navi system, and this will please many people. The QX56 can also tow 9,000 pounds, while the Escalade can tow 7,400, the GL450 can tow 7,500, and the LX570 can tow 8,200. It really has a truck-like performance to it, rather than a family-SUV-like performance, but everyone should admit that 9,000 pounds is pretty impressive and more than needed. Last, the 09 Infiniti QX56 is quite roomy inside. It can easily seat seven adults, and if the seats in the back are stowed, there's plenty of cargo room. So, the 2009 Infiniti QX56 is a considerable SUV. My rating for it is a 91%. It needs to work on power and fuel economy, but just about everything else is decent or above decent.
